Solar Plexus Chakra Healing

Personal Power

This is one of my favorite chakras to nourish because it is our energy center that guides us to stand in our Personal Power. It is the mighty Solar Plexus Chakra! The Solar Plexus is centrally located in the upper abdomen right where the ribs meet and controls the entire gastrointestinal system. Here lives our sense of Self-Love, Self-Esteem, Self-Confidence, and Self-Empowerment! This is also where our ego, willpower, and motivation to achieve our personal goals resides.

Solar Plexus Chakra Imbalances

When the Solar Plexus Chakra is balanced then we have great self-esteem, confidence in our abilities, and feel empowered to do anything we desire. Life situations that decrease our sense of worthiness to be loved can throw this chakra out of balance. Therefore, any type of abuse whether it be physical, mental, emotional, verbal, or sexual will greatly impact this chakra. Being bullied or having an authoritarian type of upbringing will also affect this chakra. 

Mental emotional ailments that can arise from an imbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra include anxiety, low self-esteem, poor willpower, aggression, arrogance, victim mentality, addictions, excessive laziness, overeating, and also undereating. 

Physical ailments will arise in the gastrointestinal system to include the stomach, intestines, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, and kidneys. An imbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra may be a contributing factor behind many common gastrointestinal disorders such as heartburn, ulcers, indigestion, nausea, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, food allergies, diabetes, high cholesterol, gout, kidney stones, gall stones, and any sort of digestive or metabolic problem.

Solar Plexus Chakra Affirmations

Affirmations are especially beneficial for the Solar Plexus Chakra. Think positive thoughts, speak kindly, and lovingly forgive yourself for mistakes more often. Repeat as often as you can out loud and while looking at your reflection in the mirror.

1.  “I love and respect myself.”

2.  “I am responsible for my life and my decisions.” 

3.  “I am more than good enough.”

Do Something New

A great way to stand in your personal power is to simply expand your horizons and try something new. Learn a new skill. Explore a new place. Start a new healthy habit. You got this!

Belly Breaths/Diaphragmatic Breathing

Solar Plexus energy also controls the diaphragm that is vital for breathing and delivery of oxygen to our organs. When is the last time you took a Deep Belly Breath? Too often we are in a tense state that triggers us to breathe shorter, more rapidly, and from high in our chests. This type of breathing promotes feelings of anxiety, worry, and fear. When these feelings arise, try to relax and utilize the simple self-care tool of Deep Belly Breaths to return to a sense of well-being.

 Sit or lay down with your spine straight as you gaze softly ahead or gently close your eyes. Place one hand lovingly on your belly and one hand lovingly on your chest. Deeply inhale through your nose feeling the belly rise. Then gently exhale through the nose feeling the belly fall. Take at least 5 deep belly breaths spending about 5 seconds on the inhale and 5 seconds on the exhale. To heighten the experience, think of 5 things you are grateful for in the present moment as you breathe!

 

Yellow Color

The color of the Solar Plexus Chakra energy is mostly yellow. Wearing the color yellow is great for the Solar Plexus Chakra. Eating yellow foods such as ginger, squash, lemons, bananas, lentils, garbanzo beans, and sunflower seeds is fantastic nourishment for the Solar Plexus Chakra.

Gemstones

Citrine and Amber are a couple of gemstones that strengthen the Solar Plexus Chakra. They have brilliant yellow hues that are excellent for showing love to this chakra. Wear these gems and keep them in your surroundings.
